Gregory W. BaldwinGregory W. Baldwin, 47, departed this life on Saturday, December 24, 2011, at UTMB Hospital.

Duck, as he was affectingly called, was born February 24, 1964, in Galveston to Jeanette Dotson. He was educated in the Galveston Independent School District, graduating with the Ball High class of 1982. He continued his education at Prairie View A& M University, graduating in 1987, with a degree in Business Administration. He was employed by the City of Galveston-Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was also a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sammie Lee Allen, grandfather, Clarence Lewis, Sr.; son, Gregory Baldwin, Jr., and uncles, Clarence Lewis, Jr. and Robert Simpson, Sr..

He is survived by his wife, Shaulonda Baldwin; daughter, Kayla Baldwin; son, Kendal Davion; devoted mother, Jeanette Dotson; brothers, Luther B. Baldwin (Carolyn) and Derrick Baldwin; sister, Deborah Clemons (Chester); mother in law, Verna Brown of California; aunts, Jewel Simpson and Maggie Williams; uncles, Raymond Allen (Rita), Kenneth Allen ( Cassandra); nieces, Tiffany Hill (Ervis), Janet Clemons, Kendra and Lindsay Baldwin; godmother, Frankie Jackson; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 4PM on Friday, December 30th, with an Omega ceremony by the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma at 6:45 PM, followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, December 31st at 11:00 AM at Live Oak Baptist Church with Pastor Vernon L. Baines officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
