On Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at approximately 9:45 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call in the 19300 block of Plantain in west Harris County. Upon arrival they met with a female reportee who stated she had just arrived home from work and found her husband deceased. She stated she also found two of the three children inside the residence with the victim tied up, but unharmed. Deputies located a 31 year old male deceased inside the residence from unknown trauma. The victim’s wife also reported the victim’s black 2007 Chevy Tahoe bearing Texas tag 03SHS6 missing.

On Wednesday, December 28, 2011 investigators with the Harris County Sheriff Office Homicide Unit filed Capital Murder charges on Tony Escobar, Joseph Faundo, and Amber Thornton for the beating and stabbing death of the victim, Russell Lopez. All three defendants have been charged in the 338th District Court and no-bond set.  Thornton is currently booked into the Harris County Jail while Escobar and Faundo currently have open warrants for their arrest. Anyone with information on their whereabouts, is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477). Robbery appears to be the motive for the murder of the victim.
