On Thursday, December 29 there was a small "grand opening" of the new emergency medical service at the Crystal Beach Fire Station. A formal ribbon cutting will be scheduled later. The photos were provided by Maryanne Rogers.
"This service will provide 24/7 EMS service to the Peninsula," Rogers said. "No longer do you call 911 to get volunteers coming from their house to man the ambulances. The EMS facility will be staffed around the clock and your call will be answered with an immediate response as the medics will be at the building ready to go. It is a large step for the Peninsula since we have been all volunteer. It will be staffed with part time paid medics working a 12, 24 or 36 hour shift as well as volunteers."
