Myrtle Lee Gaston, 86, peacefully slept away into the arms of Jesus on Monday, January 2, 2012, at her residence.
Myrtle was born January 31, 1924, in Beaumont, TX to Harrison and Cinderella Pratt Gims. She attended public school in Beaumont and graduated from Martin High School. She was a retired nurse’s assistant from John Sealy Hospital and also was a registered Day Care home provider. She was a longtime member of First Union Baptist Church, where she served with the Sunday school, Mission, Ministers and Deacons Wives and the Mother’s Union. She also was an honorary member of First Morning Star Baptist Church in Houston, while attending there with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, spouse, twins, Clarence and Clara Romas; sons, Richard and Clarence Romas; and daughter, Carolyn Romas Collins.
She leaves the legacy of her life with her son, Rev. Frank Romas, Jr. (Ruby); daughters, Emma Romas Reed (Nary), Cindy Romas Glenn, and Debra Romas Dunham, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2012, followed by a life celebration at 11:00 a.m. at Avenue L Baptist Church, Rev. E.R. Johnson, Pastor, and Rev. Carl E. Isaac officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
