LOCKHART- Jeanette Carolyn Whitmore Fish, age 86, of Lockhart, formerly of Galveston died Thursday, January 5, 2012 at her residence in Lockhart.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, Dr. Ray Meador officiating. Entombment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hitchcock under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm on Sunday.
Jeanette was born January 2, 1926 in Roanoke, Virginia to Mary Agusta and Walter Dever Whitmore. She moved to Galveston in 1935 and graduated from Ball High School in 1944. She married her high school sweetheart, Bertram Warren Fish on December 18, 1944 in Galveston at the First Baptist Church. She remained living in Galveston until she & her husband, Bert moved to Lockhart, Texas in 1995. She was a home maker all of her married life and devoted herself to her husband, children and family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galveston. She was active in gardening, and worked with the Cub Scouts and PTA when her children were young.
Preceded in death by her mother, Mary Augusta Whitmore and father, Walter Dever Whitmore, her husband of 66 years, Bertram Warren Fish, two brothers; Walter D. Whitmore Jr. and Garold B. Whitmore and two sisters; Mary Evelyn Baer and Loretta Elenore Land, survivors include three sons; James Warren Fish and wife, Therese; Jerry Wayne Fish; David Walter Fish and wife, Amy; one daughter Kathryn Louise Fish Ovalle; seven grandchildren Frank Ovalle Jr., Ginger Kern, Richard Ovalle, Jennifer White, Christopher Fish, Lauren Fish, and Matthew Fish; and seven great grandchildren Baylee Ovalle, Marcus Ovalle, Brianna Munlin, Makenzie Munlin, Matthew Ovalle, Steven Ovalle and Xavier Ovalle.
Pallbearers are Frank Ovalle Jr., Richard Ovalle, Vince Kern, Christopher Fish, Marcus Ovalle and William Groves.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to her hospice nurses, Julia Eaton and Maria Uballe as well as the entire staff of Odyssey Hospice of San Marcos. Also a special thank you goes to her devoted friends and neighbors, William and Margaret Groves and Sherri Cable.
