HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS NAMED GRAND MARSHALS OF MLK PARADES

Harlem Globetrotters legend Curly Neal and current star Blenda Rodriguez will serve as Grand Marshals of the 18th Annual MLK Grande Parade in Houston on Monday, Jan. 16.  Blenda will also serve as Grand Marshal of the 6th Annual MLK Youth Parade on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Curly and Blenda will partake in the festivities before the Globetrotters’ 2012 World Tour arrives to the Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29.

As one of the truly iconic figures in basketball history, Curly Neal has passed the torch to an impressive team of current Globetrotters, which includes Blenda – one of today’s greatest ball handlers.

Curly played more than 6,000 games in 97 countries during his 22 year career from 1963 to 1985.  With his #22 jersey retired, Curly still plays a role as an ambassador for the team, spreading goodwill throughout the country.
