Galveston College Board of Regents

The Galveston College Board of Regents on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve a contract for election services with Galveston County for the May 12 General Election, as well as any special and subsequent runoff elections.

The college will hold a regular election for Position 1, Position 2 and Position 3 on the board, which are currently held by Tino Gonzalez, Barbara Crews and Greg Roof, respectively.

The college will also hold a special election in May for Position 4, an unexpired term held by Raymond Lewis, Jr. Lewis was appointed by the board in September of 2010 to fill a vacancy left by Ross Novelli, Jr. The term for Position 4 expires in 2014.

Each regularly elected member of the board serves a six-year term. Board members are not term-limited and each position is elected at-large.

The board voted to elect Gonzalez as the board's representative to the Community College Association of Texas Trustees.

The board voted to accept initial renovations to the Charlie Thomas Family Vocational-Technical Training Center Facility and release of the final payment on the renovations.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Regent Greg Roof absent.  Agenda
