HISD Superintendent Declares Friday
“Houston Texans Spirit Day”
Houston Texans Cheerleaders and Other Team Representatives
will Attend Today’s School Board Meeting
The Houston Independent School District is rallying around the Houston Texans as they continue their inspiring run in the NFL playoffs.
During a regularly scheduled meeting with central office staff earlier this week, employees asked Superintendent Terry Grier to allow employees at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center to dress in Texans team attire on Friday, January 13 to show support for the team before this weekend’s playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Dr. Grier loved the idea, declaring Friday “Houston Texans Spirit Day” in HISD.
“We want to show our support for a team that has brought a renewed sense of pride to our community, and for the many Texans players and staff who regularly give their time and resources to Houston schools,” Dr. Grier said.
Many HISD campus principals have also chosen to take part in Friday’s show of support.
In recognition of the Houston Texans’ contributions to HISD students in particular, all HISD central office employees are encouraged to show support for the team by wearing Texans team attire on “Houston Texans Spirit Day,” which will be this Friday, January 13, 2012 in HISD.
Members of the Texans cheerleading squad will accompany team representatives to today’s meeting of the Board of Education for a special recognition. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center, 4400 West 18th Street.
