Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force tracked down a wanted fugitive in Galveston late yesterday evening.
Robert Gonzalez, 48, of Grand Prairie, TX, was arrested shortly after 8:00 PM yesterday at a hotel in the 6200 block of Seawall Boulevard in Galveston. Gonzalez was wanted for Solicitation of Capital Murder in Grand Prairie, stemming from accusations he attempted to hire a “hit man” to kill his girlfriend and her son to collect insurance proceeds.
Task Force members, including Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies, Galveston Police officers, and deputies from the U. S. Marshal’s Service tracked Gonzalez to Galveston, acting on information developed during a joint investigation. He was taken into custody without incident.
Gonzalez is being held at the Galveston County Jail under a $1,000,000 bond. He is expected to be returned to Grand Prairie sometime in the coming days.
