13th Annual Yachty Gras Gears Up for 2012 Celebration Events

BAY AREA HOUSTON, Texas – Bay Area Houston is excited to welcome back our most popular and unique Mardi Gras event, the 13th Annual Yachty Gras boat parade.

This year’s theme for Yachty Gras is “Promise of the Sea” which represents a promise to the community as the organization plans not only to entertain the whole family, but also to donate a portion of the event’s proceeds to the Bay Area Veterans Memorial Fund organized by the Seabrook Association.

The festivities will begin with the kick-off party at Sundance Grill II at Waterford Harbor on February 11, 2012 at 7 p.m. Admission to the kick-off party is free, open to everyone and features hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, live music, and a silent auction. The parade itself will run Saturday, February 18 beginning at 7 p.m. from the Seabrook Channel past the Kemah Boardwalk. The parade judges will view from the Kemah Boardwalk where the decorated boats will sail past and throw Mardi Gras beads to eager onlookers.

Following the parade, an after-party will be held at Outriggers, the popular local seafood restaurant located under the Kemah/Seabrook bridge. Everyone is welcome to attend this family-friendly event to view the boats and collect beads. Book your hotel or bed-and-breakfast rooms early to stay for the weekend. Find accommodations, area events and other information at the Bay Area Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau website, and laissez les bon temp rouler!
