Elementary and Primary Education
Texas City ISD Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, January 18, 2012

The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the Texas City Police Department for use of the former Texas City High School facility as a location for training prior to the building’s demolition.

The district plans to tear down the building in the spring.  Texas City Police will utilize the building to test equipment and train personnel at the school building before the demolition takes place.

The school board voted to approve the purchase of approximately 10.2 acres of land located on 19th Avenue between 19th Street and 21st Street, south of Northside Elementary.

The school board voted to approve a joint election contract with the City of Texas City for the May 2012 election.

Positions on the school board with terms expiring in May are District 6, which is held by Hal Biery, and the district's At-Large position, which is held by David Moss.  Trustees are elected to three-year terms on the board.

The school board voted to approve the use of the Pentamation Mobile Access Module.

The item will function as an “app” on faculty tablets, such as iPads, for use by teachers on a mobile basis and in teacher evaluations.

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with Trustee Bryan Thompson absent.  Agenda
