Fugitive Nabbed, Living On Boat
Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force members apprehended a man on the run for over a year from Mississippi authorities.
Lance David Geiling, 40, was picked up in the 8100 block of Harborside in Galveston about 12:20 this afternoon. Geiling had been charged with Forcible Sexual Intercourse during an investigation by authorities in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Task Force members, including Galveston County Sheriff’s deputies, Galveston Police officers, and deputies of the U. S. Marshals Service learned Geiling was living on a sailboat in Galveston, apparently accompanied by his two children. The children were taken into protective custody pending release to family members.
Geiling, who had been avoiding arrest since December, 2010, remains incarcerated at the Galveston County Jail without bond. He will likely face a judge later this week who will decide his extradition status.
