Domenica Patane D’Ambra, 95, of Galveston, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at UTMB Hospital. She was born October 19, 1916, in Tampa, Florida. She and her husband owned and operated A. D’Ambra Grocery for 30 years. Domenica was a member of the San Giovanni Italian American Association and the Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anello D’Ambra Sr.; son, Anthony D’Ambra; sister, Nerina Messina; brother, Sebastiano Patane; parents, Giuseppe and Margaret Patane; and stepmother, Domenica Patane.
Domenica is survived by her sons, John D’Ambra and wife, Rose; Joe D’Ambra and wife, Nancy; and Anello D’Ambra Jr.; sisters, Lena Patane Strickland and Anna Patane; brother, Tony Patane and wife, Rosetta; grandchildren: Donna D’Ambra and husband, Rob Dostal; Dr. Anello John D’Ambra and wife, Lisa; Monica D’Ambra Pena and husband, Ray; Domenica (Mindy) D’Ambra; James Malcolm D’Ambra and wife, Amanda; Joseph D’Ambra Jr. and wife, Kim; and Anello John D’Ambra and wife, Maryann; great grandchildren: Heather Lively and fiancé, Brett Morris; Courtney Michele D’Ambra; Cory Joseph D’Ambra; Colton Allen D’Ambra; Megan Denise D’Ambra; Kayla Rene Lackey; James Christopher D’Ambra; Bryan Anthony D’Ambra; Samuel Joseph D’Ambra; and Kayla Ellen Gray; great great grandchildren: Addison Morris, Kacie Shea Goolsby, and Tyler Earl Goolsby; numerous nieces, nephews, and family members in Italy.
Domenica’s family will receive visitors beginning at 5:00 pm, Sunday, January 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary and vigil service will be held at 6:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Monday, January 23rd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Galveston Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hitchcock.
Pallbearers will be Joe D’Ambra Jr, Dr. Anello John D’Ambra, James M. D’Ambra, Robert Dostal, Brett Morris, James Christopher D’Ambra, and Bryan D’Ambra.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. A.J. D’Ambra, Tony Patane, and Joseph Patane.
