Bernabe “Benny” Gonzales

Bernabe “Benny” GonzalesBernabe “Benny” Gonzales passed away on January 20, 2012.  He was born in Galveston, Texas on October 8, 1940 to Benny and Olivia Gonzales.  He graduated from Kirwin High School in 1958, where he was involved in numerous school clubs and met the love of his life, Barbara Mraz, through cheerleading.  He then graduated from St. Mary’s University in 1962 with a degree in business.  He and Barbara married in 1962 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston and then moved to Houston where he worked as an Oil and Gas Recruiter.  Benny was also a member of the Air Force Reserves.  Benny and Barbara were faithful members of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church.

Benny is survived by his son, Monte Gonzales (wife Gina); daughters, Lisa Thomas (husband Darrell), Cindy Ezell (husband Matthew); sisters, Rosemary Green (husband Bobby), Angela Pendarvis (husband James); numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25th, at 12:00 pm, followed by funeral service at 1:00 pm, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston.  Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
