Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners
by Garrett Bryce
Monday, January 23, 2012

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners today voted unanimously to approve property insurance for the port for the next year, with total premiums of $501,681.

The policy will take effect January 25, and expire on January 24, 2013.  The carriers of the policy are Ironshore Specialty Insurance Company, AXIS Surplus Insurance Company and RSUI Indemnity Insurance Company.  The port is insured for a total of $74 million.

The port commission voted to approve an industrial track agreement with Kansas City Southern Railway Company for the new mainline south turnout.

Under the agreement, the rail company will construct track along its mainline that is not on port property.  The construction is part of the port’s $15 million rail expansion project in Jefferson County.

The port commission voted to authorize Port Director David Fisher to issue a request for qualifications from engineering firms and to make a recommendation to the board for selection of a port consulting engineer.

The firm serving as the port’s consulting engineer would provide engineering services in the port’s operation, and projects under the port’s master plan, according to Fisher.

All items were approved.  All votes were unanimous with all members present.  Agenda
