The La Marque Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve an election service contract with Galveston County for the May board election.
Trustee for District 2 Shirley Fanuiel and District 3 Trustee Cynthia Bell-Malveaux have terms expiring in May. Elections will be held on May 12.
The school board voted unanimously to accept the 2010-2011 Audit Report as presented by Null-Lairson, the firm contracted by the district to conduct the audit.
The district received a clean or “unqualified” opinion of its financial reporting for 2011 fiscal year. The audit did include discussions with management on three areas for improvements, which included fiscal data year collection, human resources issues with division control, pay and staffing documentation; and the management of the SECO state energy grant. The district has formed plans to improve the areas listed.
The school board took no action regarding personnel recommendations concerning the director of communications. The item was discussed during an executive session.
The board also met in executive session to discuss various topics, including personnel matters, board communications and discussion of future employment options with the superintendent. No action was taken on the items discussed during the closed session.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Trustee Travis Smith was absent. Agenda
