GALVESTON COLLEGE PROFESSOR NAMED FOR HONOR
Galveston College Biology Professor Dr. James Salazar has been named a recipient of the 2012 Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education Distinguished Community College Faculty Award. Dr. Salazar will receive his award at the 37thannual TACHE Conference being held at the Tremont House Hotel in Galveston February 1 through February 4.
The TACHE Distinguished Faculty Award annually recognizes professors with the superior levels of professionalism and accomplishment in the areas teaching, research or service. The award comes with a $1,000 honorarium.
Dr. Salazar received his Bachelor’s in Education at Quindio University in Columbia, his Master’s in Biology at Columbia’s Javeriana University and his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from University of Antioquia in Columbia. He joined Galveston College in 2004 as Associate Professor and Director of the Biotechnology program. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Life Sciences program teaching Biology and Environmental Sciences.
