Students Recognized for Scientific Curiosity

HOUSTON - Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI] continued its commitment to the scientists of tomorrow on Jan. 24, by presenting special awards to the winners of the Clear Creek Independent School District Science Fair.

SAIC Safety and Mission Assurance Support Services Contract Program Manager and former U.S. astronaut Ken Cameron presented tokens of accomplishment to the winner of the Jesse A. Dorrington 2012 Grand Award for Physical Science Ellen Zhou for her project “Near Earth Asteroid Collision”, and runner up Patrick Harold for his project “Energy Recovery From Waste Plastics for Fuel Pt. 2”, Jesse A. Dorrington 2012 Grand Award for Life Science winners Amanda Zhao and Anna Wang for their project “Antibiotics and Efficiency of Phytoremediation”, and runner up Sachin Mehta for her project “Antibiotic Properties of the Pigment Prodigiosin”.

The winners advance to the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston. 389 high school level students entered the district fair.

“SAIC is proud to participate in this award ceremony; the strength of our company is smart people solving hard problems. From everything I have seen today, there are many smart, young people who I expect to be the scientists of the future,” said Cameron.

SAIC provides Safety and Mission Assurance Support Services to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This is the seventh year that SAIC has sponsored these special awards.
