RENOWNED SPEAKER, LECIA BROOKS, VISITED COM’S MLK EVENT
Lecia Brooks, director of outreach for the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Ala., was the guest speaker at College of the Mainland’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month Celebration on Thursday in Texas City. She said “race relations have improved tremendously” since Dr. King’s speech in 1963 but emphasized the importance of working towards Dr. King’s dreams of eradicating poverty.
