RENOWNED SPEAKER, LECIA BROOKS, VISITED COM’S MLK EVENT

Lecia Brooks, director of outreach for the Southern Poverty Law Center in  Montgomery, Ala., was the guest speaker at College of the Mainland’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month Celebration on Thursday in Texas City. She said “race relations have improved tremendously” since Dr. King’s speech in 1963 but emphasized the importance of working towards Dr. King’s dreams of eradicating poverty.

College of the Mainland offers a wide range of classes, from nationally accredited associate degrees and certifications to skills, hobbies and trades. COM has an excellent professor-to-student ratio that helps instructors connect with their classes. We’re the launch pad for success stories throughout the Mainland.
