2012 Texas Poet Laureate Jan Seale to visit San Jacinto College Central Campus

PASADENA, Texas — The public is invited to San Jacinto College Central for a lecture and book signing with 2012 Texas Poet Laureate Jan Seale.

The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 7. The book signing begins at 1 p.m. in the book store inside the student center. The lecture will follow at 2 p.m. in the teaching theater in the Interactive Learning Center.

Seale becomes the 49th Texas Poet Laureate and the first resident of the Rio Grande Valley to receive this honor. Poets laureate usually travel extensively, meeting with groups of young people and adults, giving readings, and generally promoting the art of poetry. Each poet laureate is designated for a particular year. Once they are designated, they retain the title for life.
