ACC DCVS program offering free heart scans
If you’re racking your brain to come up with an idea for a Valentine’s Day gift for your sweetheart, look to your heart for the answer— literally.
Starting February 5 and until February 14, the Alvin Community College Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography program is offering heart scans to the public. The annual event helps raise money for student scholarships and lab supplies. It also raises awareness that February is Heart Health Month.
The heart scans are a simple capture of the person’s heart. It is not intended to be used for any diagnostic purposes. Participants also will be able to add a personal message on the printed scans such as “You are here” or or “My heart Beats for You.” A scan takes up to five minutes.
Cost is $5 for a color scan and $2 for a black and white scan. No appointment is necessary, just drop by room S-107 at the ACC Campus, 3110 Mustang Road.
The scans will be available from from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 and 12; from 10 a.m. to noon and then from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 6 and Feb. 13; from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 am. and 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 7 and Feb. 14; from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Feb. 8; from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 10.
