Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Mary Lou Fuentes Mary Lou Fuentes age 65, of Galveston passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at M.D.AndersonHospital in Houston. Funeral services are 10:00 am Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, Father John Paosan, OFM celebrant. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm led by Deacon John Pistone.

Born August 28, 1946 in Alvin, Texas to Herman Martinez and Mary Sanchez, Mary was a claims adjuster with American national Insurance Company retiring with over 30 years of service. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she was our inspiration and hope bringing kindness warmth and was understanding to everyone without judgment. She was very strong and courageous through difficult times putting the needs of others before her own and always helping everyone out with her giving heart. She was a very compassionate woman who would do anything for her family without hesitation. She loved her grandchildren unconditionally, was a good sister and good friend to everyone she knew. Mary is now in heaven reunited with her daughter Mary Margaret and her soul mate Charlie whom she was forever committed and devoted to her entire life and missed so deeply since his passing in 2001.

Preceded in death by her father, husband, Charles Fuentes, Sr. and daughter, Mary Margaret Alfaro survivors include son, Charles Fuentes, Jr.; daughter, Rene Fuentes; mother, Mary Perez; sisters, Hope and Eva Martinez; brothers, Raymond Martinez and James Perez; grandchildren, Sonia Fuentes, Nichole Fuentes, Jorge Alfaro, Jr., Charles Fuentes, III, Lorenzo Alfaro, Nico Alfaro and Nina Valdes Fuentes; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Charles Fuentes, III, Jorge Alfaro, Jr., Lorenzo Alfaro, Nico Alfaro, Carlos Valdes and Eric Perez.
