Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to award a $723,880 contract to Callan Marine, Ltd. for the Sabine Pass Port Authority dredging project.

The contract will be funded through the Round 1 Texas Department of Rural Affairs Grant that is administered by the Texas General Land Office.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $146,434 contract to Utility Specialties for the Cardinal Meadows Lift Station project.

The item had been re-bid, and will be funded through the Round 1 Texas Department of Rural Affairs grant.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution allowing the Jefferson County Family Drug Treatment Court to apply for 2012-2013 grant funds.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept a grant from the Criminal Justice Division to continue the operation of the Jefferson County Crime Victims’ Clearinghouse/Victims’ Assistance Center for 2012-2013.  The grant is available pursuant to the Victims of Crime Act.  The grant requires matching funds of $8,500, of which $4,000 may be provided through in-kind services.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding a burn ban order.  There is currently no burn ban in effect for the county.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to issue a proclamation for 2-1-1 Day on February 11. 

The county urges all citizens to avail themselves of the benefits and opportunities provided by the 2-1-1 Area Information Center of Southeast Texas.

“The 2-1-1 Area Information Center of Southeast Texas is an internationally accredited Information and Referral Service, staffed with trained, certified, and caring staff who are committed to serving the needs of the citizens of Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange Counties,” said the proclamation.  Proclamation

The commissioners court voted unanimously to adopt a resolution recognizing Chris Hinojosa for 8 years and 11 months of service to Jefferson County and wishing him well in his retirement.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda
