BEAUMONT CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU HOSTS
ANNUAL HALL OF FAME RECEPTION, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2012

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Beaumont Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) will host its 22nd Annual Hall of Fame Reception at the Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza on Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.  The CVB will recognize and honor meeting planners who hosted meetings, reunions, sporting events and conferences in Beaumont during the previous year.  Approximately 51 meeting planners and their guests will enjoy dinner and entertainment provided by City Dance Center and DJ Epi.

“The staff and I feel the Annual Hall of Fame Reception is the most important event of our year because it’s a time where we can share our thanks and appreciation with our local citizens who work so hard in bringing their events to Beaumont,” said Dean Conwell, CDME, Executive Director of the CVB.

The Hall of Fame Reception is a time for the CVB to honor inductees as well as extend gratitude to meeting planners for contributing to the success of tourism in Beaumont during 2011.  After recognizing meeting planners, the CVB will present this year’s Service Award to a local citizen who has shown extreme dedication to enhancing tourism in Beaumont.  The Annual Service Award recipient is kept secret and revealed at the close of the reception to a surprised guest of honor. A list of past winners can be found on our website at: http://www.beaumontcvb.com/about/about-the-cvb/hall-of-fame/service-award-winners/.

Each year the CVB works diligently to entice groups, conventions and meetings to choose Beaumont for their meeting destination.  Groups impact the local economy through hotel occupancy taxes and tourism dollars that significantly affect the economic development of Beaumont.  Tourism dollars are “new money” brought into the local economy and groups of all types found Beaumont to be the ideal meeting destination in 2011.  For more information on Hall of Fame, please visit our website: http://www.beaumontcvb.com/about/about-the-cvb/hall-of-fame/.

Last year, 126 organizations said yes to Beaumont and the CVB hosted 149 different events.  We welcomed 64,191 delegates, which brought in a direct economic impact of $17,122,436 to the city.

Events with the largest attendance in 2011 include:

·         Harley Owners Group, Texas State Rally: 2,403 in attendance with 1,300 room nights
