Galveston Symphony Orchestra Features Guest Conductor Brian Runnels
GALVESTON, Texas - At the invitation of Maestro Richard Pickar, Brian Runnels will appear as Guest Conductor of The Galveston Symphony Orchestra at their upcoming concert Sunday, February 26, 7 pm, at The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice.
Brian Runnels, current Music Director for the Houston Civic Symphony and the Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Houston, will serve as maestro for the concert featuring the works of composers Rossinni, Schbert and Strauss. The evening performance will honor classical masters of opera comedy farce, tragedy and tone poetry.
Runnels formerly served as Professor of Music at Houston Baptist University, Guest Conductor, Opera in the Heights, Chairman of the Department of Music at Murray State University and Bemidji State University.
The Galveston Symphony Orchestra, will perform La Scala di Seta Overture by Gioachino Antonio Rossini , Franz Peter Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 and Death and Transfiguration and Der Rosenkavalier First Waltz by Richard Georg Strauss.
Maestro Richard Pickar will conduct the final season performance April 29.
