on FREE Projects To Help Nonprofits Improve Databases/Websites
Executive Service Corps of Houston (ESCH) has provided leadership and management consulting for the nonprofit community of Texas for 27 years, and they continue to help nonprofits excel through their partnership with University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business. ESCH has partnered with UH to provide free business solutions using the knowledge and technical skills of faculty and students of UH C. T. Bauer College of Business – Management Information Systems program in the Department of Decision & Information Sciences under the direction of Professor Paul Pennington. Student teams work on business projects, in the areas of office automation and integration; web, database or network development; hardware and software selection and installation; internet service protocol (ISP) selection; and accounting. The program, offered spring and fall semesters, aims to provide technology delivery for business improvement and mentor students through a professional client engagement process.
Spring 2011 participant, Scott Brogan, the founding Director of the Brilliant Lecture Series stated, “Under ESCH consultant Hugh Williams’ supervision, our UH students successfully produced an integrated database. Student leader, Anthony, led his team with a clear understanding of the technology and programming required to accomplish our objectives. The end product is a good launch point for us to develop a more advanced and comprehensive database. Without reservation I recommend the program to other organizations.” 2012 participants included Dress for Success, Avondale House, PAIR and Westside Homeless.
