Youth Partners CAN Mentoring Program Info
The name of our New Mentoring Program is the Youth Partners CAN (Create A New Beginning) Project. The goal is to improve outcomes in the areas of school performance, attendance, pro-social behavior, and social competence for youth in confinement. The motto is “Confinement CAN be transformed into confidence”. Through this program, we believe that youth confined in a detention center can successfully reintegrate into the community with the assistance of a mentor and adequate resources. These mentors are positive adult role models that have a genuine concern and interest in helping youth succeed. Mentors must be 21 and up and have no criminal offenses dealing with kids. Mentors are required to commit to mentees for at least 4 hours per month for at least 1 year.
This program will serve girls and boys from the ages of 10 -17 that are preparing to return home. The mentor relationship along with many other resources will create a new beginning for these youth.
All interested prospective mentors must complete an
, background check, orientation, and will receive additional training. For those interested, please contact any one of our mentoring team members. We hope you join our mission by helping a youth today!
