LIT celebrates Black History Month on Wednesday

BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology will celebrate Black History Month with a program at 11 a.m. on Feb. 15 at the Multi-Purpose Center.

Pat Avery, human resources and communications manager of TOTAL Petrochemicals, will be the featured speaker, and Henry Jones, a local musician, will perform.

The Star Award will be presented to an outstanding student in each of LIT’s departments: Bruce Hubbard from Allied Health & Science; Veronica Cooper from Business Technology; Officer Alton Baise from Public Service & Safety; and Kendrix Zachary from Technology.

LIT students Yolanda Tamayo, Ronnie Brown and Milton Leday, and LIT financial aid specialist Yulonda Eldridge will also provide entertainment.
