League City – Correctly spelling “readjourn” and “simony” made Syamantak Payra the winner of the CCISD 2012 Spelling Bee. It is the second year in a row Payra has won the District Bee. He is currently a 6th grader at Westbrook Intermediate School.


Students from 35 schools participated in the CCISD Spelling Bee after winning their campus contest. The contestants represented all 26 CCISD Elementary Schools and 9 of CCISD Intermediate Schools on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Sandra Mossman Elementary School in the Education Village located in League City.  


The winner, Syamantak Payra, will represent CCISD at the Houston PBS Spelling Bee on March 31, 2012.  The Competition will be televised at 2:00 pm on Channel 8 in Houston.


The winner of this Spelling Bee will compete in the National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.


CCISD also congratulates 2nd place winner Louis Guardione, a 7th grader from Creekside Intermediate School and Vijeyta Revankar, a 4th grader from Bay Elementary, who placed 3rd and receives an Honorable Mention.
