Candidate Heidi Thiess Announces New Social Networking Site

Heidi Thiess, candidate for Texas House of Representatives District 24 has launched a new social networking campaign site. In today’s political environment, the use of technology to support and evolve the effectiveness of campaigns has become paramount to success. Beginning with the Internet and the use of websites to support political message, Thiess' campaign messaging has evolved to use web-based and database technologies to help target her interaction with voters of District 24. "I realize that many voters are working hard and don't have the time to research and learn about all the issues they instinctively know are affecting their lives. With the use of our social networking platform, we can expand on those issues in a medium they are already using and, more importantly, present the solutions that they want to know about."

When Heidi Thiess approached her staff to create a campaign introducing some of the newest technologies, she never even considered the “bullet list” approach. Instead, Thiess looked beyond the obvious and created a campaign centered on how her message could best utilize new technologies that would touch and educate voters. Thiess' campaign manager, Lianne Russell, offered this observation, "It is really rare for a candidate to stick his neck out and take strong stands on issues. That's why Heidi is so different - she's offering clear insight into who she is, what she stands for, and what her solutions are. She intends to work side-by side with citizens in the government process; they will never be excluded again."

According to Thiess, "Often, the voter gets treated as a number and that is not what I am about. Each voter is a neighbor that struggles to pay their bills, keep their jobs, and provide for their families in a struggling economy. They deserve the truth and the best representation possible. When elected to office, I will continue to utilize cutting edge technologies like social networking to keep the dialogue open in our community and maintain accountability at all times. It is important to me to be a representative of the people, and not the political class."
