SHERIFF’S ACADEMY TO HOST LAW ENFORCEMENT STUDENT COMPETITION
HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Academy will host about 100 area law enforcement students during the Skills USA regional competition on Friday.
The students from Pasadena, Klein, and Spring Independent School Districts will compete in law enforcement scenarios as they prepare for the 2012 Skills USA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference in Corpus Christi in March.
The scenarios in Friday’s competition include felony vehicle stop, building entry, and crime scene search.
This is the first time the HCSO’s Academy hosts the event. HCSO deputies will serve as judges.
Texas SkillsUSA is a non-profit youth organization through which students develop essential skills such as communication and teamwork in various trades and industries.
HCSO Academy staff and student participants will be available for media interviews at 9 a.m.
