“Within the next 13 months, you are going to have two parking facilities in place for almost 1,100 vehicles,” said Ernie Connor.  “One at the Pleasure Pier and one at the other end, the downtown transportation facility.”

Connor and other members of the committee agreed that the trolley will provide a means for people to get from one part of the island to the other when they utilize the new parking facilities.

Hank Thierry added that the University of Texas Medical Branch is supportive of restoration of the trolley.

John Carrara of The Goodman Corporation updated the committee on the Port of Galveston’s acquisition of the Shearn Moody Plaza Parking Garage and the property at 25th and The Strand which is currently owned by 2418 Strand Corp., LLC, a subsidiary of Mitchell Historic Properties. Listen: MP3  RealPlayer
