Sugar Land’s Third Annual Cultural Kite Festival Set for March 3
Sugar Land, TX - Kites of all shapes and sizes will fill the air at the City of Sugar Land’s third annual Cultural Kite Festival on March 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Sugar Land Memorial Park, 15300 University Blvd.
Activities and entertainment will include kite competitions for all ages, a miniature kite museum showcasing the diverse history of kite making, kite flying lessons and various cultural performances. There will be a kite-making workshop where children can make their own kites and take them home afterward. Children’s activities will include henna tattoos, face painting and Chinese calligraphy stations. Walk-around characters such as Ben Franklin will provide a connection between kite flying and its history in America. Cirque-style stilt walkers will also amaze the crowd with unique costumes and tricks.
The kite competition is open to all ages, shapes and sizes! There is no cost to enter, and first- , second- and third-place trophies will be awarded for each category. Registration will be located at the blue City of Sugar Land tent at the times listed below.

Most Colorful Kite 2 p.m. 2:30 p.m. 3 p.m.
Local restaurants will sell various types of food and refreshments. And there will be plenty of space for free flying kite lovers or those who would rather stroll around and simply enjoy the magnificent views and entertainment.
Limited parking will be available at Sugar Land Memorial Park.
Additional parking will be available at the UH Sugar Land Campus, 14000 University Blvd., where free event shuttle buses will be available.
