The Galveston Housing Authority (GHA) Board of Directors has narrowed its search for an Executive Director to Stanley Lowe of Pittsburgh, PA. On February 27, 2012, at the GHA regular board meeting, commissioners will interview Mr. Lowe and reach a final decision on a resolution to hire him as the Executive Director of GHA.
Mr. Lowe was executive director of the Pittsburgh Housing Authority from 1994 to 2001. He managed 450 employees and was responsible for an operating and development budget exceeding $85 million. Mr. Lowe has also served as Vice-president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Community Revitalization Department based in Washington D.C. Currently, Mr. Lowe is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Pittsburgh Neighborhood Preservation Services.
Chairperson Betty Massey stated, “Stanley Lowe was selected from a group of 44 applicants from across the country. His background and skills developed during more than four decades of work in public housing, community redevelopment, and historic preservation made him rise to the top of our list of candidates. Mr. Lowe is a good match for Galveston and the Galveston Housing Authority.” The GHA regular board meeting will take place on February 27, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at the Island Community Center located at 4700 Broadway in Galveston.
