Galveston County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve a $37,995 change order in the county’s contract with Halff Associates, Inc. for the Stewart Road Project; and a $6,952.78 change order in the county’s contract with R. W. Lucas Construction, LLC for the Lawrence Road Project from SH 96 to FM 2094.
The commissioners court authorized the county purchasing agent to advertise for a bid for repair of the brick promenade in Fort Travis Park.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Bill Latimer to the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District.
The commissioners court deferred action on a proposal by County Judge Mark Henry to assist the Galveston County Legal Department in the defense of the county voter registrar in a case numbered 3:12-CV-00044.
The commissioners court deferred a proposal by Commissioner Kevin O’Brien to increase employee health care benefits and to raise the cap for sleep apnea benefits. O’Brien was absent.
A warrant for the Burn Law Firm included in accounts payable checks was pulled from the agenda because O’Brien was absent.

The commissioners court met in executive session to discuss the purchase of about 64 acres of property in Bacliff; and to discussion the valuation of surplus county-owned property between 54th Street and 55th Street and between Broadway Boulevard and Ball Avenue.
