Community College Student Art Exhibition
Hosted by The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake, University of Houston-Clear Lake
HOUSTON – Local area community college students are encouraged to submit artwork for the 12th Annual Houston Area Community College Student Art Exhibition. Sponsored by The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake (TAACCL) in partnership with the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the exhibit will be on display in TAACCL’s gallery from April 19-May 17, 2012.
Dean Daderko, curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, is the juror for this show. He has mounted curatorial projects in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Montreal, Quebec, Canada; and Vilnius, Lithuania. Daderko has organized shows for some of New York’s most well-known alternative art spaces, including Art in General, Artists’ Space, Visual AIDS at La MaMa La Galleria and The Kitchen. Daderko was a graduate seminar instructor at Yale University School of Art, and a visiting curator at Centro de Investigaciones Artisticas in Buenos Aires, Cooper Union School of the Arts and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Community college students may submit up to three original works that are installation ready pieces and never have been shown at TAACCL before. Artwork can be delivered to TAACCL at 2000 NASA Pkwy in Nassau Bay on Thursday and Friday, April 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Saturday, April 7, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There is no charge to enter this show but an application which includes art identification labels and archive form must be completed.
