The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday voted unanimously to approve a joint election agreement with the City of Hitchcock for the May 12 General Election.
Positions on the ballot for May include District 4, District 6 and District 7 on the school board. The positions are currently held by Ted Robinson, Jr., Monica Cantrell, and Tom Ivey, respectively. Candidate filing for the election is ongoing and continues through March 5.
The school board voted unanimously to hire Christopher Jordan as a new Physical Education teacher for Stewart Elementary. The item was discussed during a closed session.
The school board postponed action regarding the termination of a probationary contract with Winford Ashmore at the end of the contract’s term. The item was also discussed in a closed session.
The school board tabled action regarding a professional dress code for district staff. The item was tabled for further review.
The school board discussed, but took no formal action regarding pay scales for the 2012-2013 school year. The board scheduled a workshop for March 27 to discuss all pay scales in the district.
The school board voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with East Texas Employee Benefits Cooperative. The cooperative provides employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance coverage.
