As part of its participation, ACCT will offer free HIV testing that day, as well as host a screening of “Many Women One Voice – African-American Women and HIV.” They will have a guest speaker and discussion of how to engage the community more in raising awareness of HIV and AIDS.

The event is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 7 at the ACCT offices, 707 Tremont St. in Galveston. For information, call (409) 763-2437.

ACCT was founded in 1985 for the purpose of providing compassionate community based education and services that empower people of all ages to live courageously with HIV/AIDS. It offers a variety of services including HIV testing, counseling, a food pantry, help with prescription drug payments and transportation.

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is a nationwide observance to raise awareness of the increasing effect of HIV/AIDS on women and girls, and empower people and communities to take action.
