Galveston Chamber of Commerce is Fighting for Business
Board of Directors, volunteers, members and staff unite to continue to strengthen the voice of the business community

Galveston - The Galveston Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the second annual “Fighting for Business” membership recruitment effort. The chamber’s Board of Directors, volunteers, members and staff unite in this action to recruit new members and encourage existing members to upgrade their current memberships. The Fighting for Business program was created to replace traditional membership drives that are often defined by high pressure sales techniques. The more traditional approach typically results in a large enrollment of new memberships, but they are frequently difficult to sustain. The Galveston Chamber of Commerce prides itself in being anything but ‘traditional.’

“We reinvent ourselves on a daily basis. Our relevance rises and falls on our ability to adapt to our members’ ever changing needs,” commented Galveston Chamber President Gina Spagnola.

The 2012 Galveston Chamber Membership Committee is led by Joe Rozier, Senior Project Manager for Mitchell Historic Properties, who took a very active role in last year’s Fighting for Business program. Centered on a boxing theme, the Membership Committee members become managers of four competing corners who sign board members and volunteers as their fighters. The corner whose fighters earn the most “punches” collectively will be named Champion of the Chamber. Fighters earn punches by recruiting new members or securing upgrades from current members. The Fighting for Business program has distinguished itself as a modern membership drive by its larger time frame. The four corners will have four rounds spanning over two months to earn as many punches as they can.

The overall goal of our four managers, including Joe Rozier, JessieAnn Bradshaw with Town & Country Insurance Agency, John Paul Listowski with HomeLife Builders and Steve Mataro of DSW Homes, will be to knockout our current reigning champion, Mr. Steve Mataro. We look forward to an exciting and successful recruitment event! Stay tuned – the 2012 champion will be announced on May 31, 2012.

The Galveston Chamber of Commerce, Texas’ oldest chamber of commerce established in 1845, works continuously to Promote and Advocate for Business on the island.
