CINDERELLA, by Laura Williams
HOUSTON, TEXAS - Opening Saturday, May 5, 2012, Cinderella, by Laura Williams returns to the Company OnStage for six weeks with two shows every Saturday through June 9, 2012.
Though the tale may be familiar, it is still joyously irresistible. Bullied by her nasty-tempered stepmother and horrid stepsisters, Cinderella lives a desperate and unhappy life. With the appearance of her fairy godmother and the occasion of a royal ball, Cinderella embarks on an adventure that could not end any happier ever after. The timeless theme of Cinderella dates to first century B.C. Greece when it featured a search for the owner of a lone sandal. The most popular version was published in 1647 by Charles Perrault, and created the character of the fairy godmother and replaced the sandal with a glass slipper. The rags-to-riches heroine has been featured in ballets, animated films and musicals. The story by COS resident playwright, Laura Williams, is a fast-paced and delightful theatrical experience.
Cinderella will be presented every Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. from May 5 through June 9, 2012. Regular ticket price is $8.00 for adults and children. Coupon books for group rates are available and reservations are strongly recommended. For further information and reservations, call (713) 726-1219 or go to www.companyonstage.org.
