The Galveston Chamber of Commerce Support Most Charter Amendments
The Galveston Chamber of Commerce recently appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to review and discuss the proposed Charter Amendments to be on the ballot in the May 12, 2012 City of Galveston elections. Proposed Amendments
Following the committees’ recommendations, the Chamber Board of Directors unanimously elected to support the recommendations where a clear majority existed. The Ad Hoc Committee members included Bill Clement, Buzz Elton, Shrub Kempner, Don Mafrige, Claire Reiswerg, and Dolph Tillotson. The Board defined a clear majority as 4 votes on a position on each of the Charter amendments. The Board further instructed that the Press Release indicate the actual Ad Hoc Committee vote on each Charter Amendment. The Charter Amendments with a clear majority and the advocacy position of the Chamber of Commerce is detailed below:

The Chamber Board of Directors further unanimously voted not taking a position on the Charter Amendments where a clear majority of the Ad Hoc Committee vote did not exist. These two Charter Amendments are detailed below:
