Texas Hospital Association PAC Endorses Dr. Greg Bonnen
The Texas Hospital Association’s state political action committee, HOSPAC, has endorsed Dr. Greg Bonnen for Texas House District 24. One of the largest hospital associations in the country, the Texas Hospital Association represents more than 85 percent of the state’s hospitals and health care systems, which employ some 369,000 health care professionals statewide.
“Dr. Bonnen and hospitals, such as his Houston Phyicians’ Hospital, are major employers in the state, and workforce needs continue to grow as demand for services increases, especially among the elderly,” said John Hawkins, senior vice president of Advocacy and Public Policy for THA. “Dr. Bonnen, as a hospital owner and surgeon understands all too well the importance of sound health care policies. We look forward to working with Dr. Bonnen to address health care issues in the next legislative session.”
The 33-member HOSPAC board makes endorsements based on a candidate’s position on health care issues and input from local hospital representatives.
“Texas hospitals face numerous challenges in delivering care to our diverse, fast growing population,” Hawkins said. “HOSPAC has endorsed candidates who recognize the importance of health care to all Texans, and value the role that hospitals play in caring for our communities as well as their significant contributions to the state’s economy.”
