‘Body Work’ BFA thesis show at the Dishman Art Museum

Beaumont, Texas – Lamar University’s Dishman Art Museum will host an opening reception for “Body Work” from 7 to 9 p.m. May 4.  Three students will fulfill their requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in photography degree by presenting their senior thesis projects.

Alison Heidbreder (Houston), created "Mass Consumption," about the over consumption of unhealthy food and its effect on the body.

Jason Tastensen (Sea Cliff, NY), created a social narrative about those that are often overlooked by society. Inspired by the works of Richard Avedon and Will Steacy, he is encouraged by the musings of day-to-day life.

Jarvis Quach (Beaumont), will present "Mana," a project involving the Buu Mon Buddhist Temple in Port Arthur and his interpretation of the unseen energy during meditation. It is his hope to display the serenity and spirit shown during contemplative activities.

Light refreshments will be served at the reception. The exhibition will run through May 11. Admission to the reception and the exhibition is free.

The Dishman Art Museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is located at 1030 E. Lavaca, Beaumont, Texas.  Free museum-dedicated parking is available in front of the Dishman during museum hours.  Call (409) 880-8959 for more information or visit lamar.edu/dishman.
