The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees, in a special meeting on Tuesday voted 6-1, with Pat Turner opposed, to name Dr. Barbara Derrick as the new superintendent.

Derrick currently serves as director of career and technology at Pearland Independent School District.   She was one of six finalists for the position, which included Sandra Belcher, Carla Massa, Donald Rhodes, Brandon Stiewig and Dr. Fred Walker.  The candidates were interviewed during the first week of April.

Currently, Lee Knapp serves as interim superintendent for the district.  Knapp was appointed by the board in March 2011 to serve in the interim position following the retirement of Dr. Michael Bergman from the Superintendent’s seat.  Agenda
