Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 1400 East 34th Street about 1:40 a.m. on April 15.

Zumbotha Ahkilia Newsome (b/m, DOB: 5-24-75) is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is not in custody. Newsome is accused in the killing of Damien Goss, 30, of Houston, who was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. A photo of suspect Newsome is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rohling and Senior Police Officer B. Nabors reported:

Mr. Goss was in his vehicle and had stopped at the above location to pull into a driveway. Newsome, in a late model dark gray or black Chevrolet Impala, pulled up next to Goss' car facing the opposite direction. Both men spoke briefly before Newsome shot Goss once. Goss was then taken by HFD paramedics to the hospital.
