GEDP DEVELOPER CONFERENCE
$2 Billion in Development to be Highlighted
GALVESTON, TX – The Galveston Economic Development Partnership will host the 2012 Developer Conference, May 18, at the Galveston Island Convention Center at the San Luis.
Referred to as Houston’s playground and more recently as the ‘capital of comebacks’ by veteran newsman Dan Rather, Galveston is realizing strong recovery. Since the rath of Hurricane Ike devastated the island, the business community is coming back with a vengeance. A city of survivors and scrappers, civic leaders have taken stock of assets and are inviting investors and developers to a conference that will offer the opportunity to learn more about the current and planned development that boasts, new infrastructure, hospital expansion, housing opportunities, tourism enhancements and more.
The GEDP 2012 Developer Conference will feature presentations by primary stakeholders of Galveston’s economic base and highlight the economic outlook and future projections for growth and diversification. Representatives from the City of Galveston, Galveston County, Port of Galveston, Parks Board of Trustees, UTMB, Texas A & M at Galveston, and the GEDP will participate.
Celebrating entrepreneurship and innovation, the conference will offer an in depth review of $2 billion currently in development, and an investor profile that will show where areas of opportunity are presently located within the Galveston Island business community.
The conference strives to create a networking environment for Galveston business leaders to interact with developers on the strengths and opportunities available. All attendees will receive the GEDP 2012 Investor Profile. A publication that illustrates the comprehensive nature of investments in Galveston, the Profile includes public and private entities, Galveston’s demographic and economic data such as major industries, top ten employers, and taxpayers, socio-economic data and profiles of major investments across the Island.
The 2012 Developer Conference registration begins at 11 am; luncheon at 11:30 am. The GEDP will unveil the current Investor Profile, with presentations by Johnny Smecca, Chairman of the Board, GEDP, Dr. Ray Perryman, The Perryman Group, and Dr. Robert Hodgin, University of Houston Clear Lake. Entrepreneur Tilman Fertitta will be presented the inaugural 2012 GEDP Developer of the Year Award applauding his confidence in Galveston’s future and his continued investment on the Island.
The conference is open to the public. Tickets are $50 per person and includes lunch and a copy of the 2012 GEDP Investor Profile. For additional information and reservations call (409) 770-0216 or go to www.gedp.org.
