Galveston Police Investigate Fatality Auto-Pedestrian Accident
Department Asks for Public Assistance to Solve Crime

(Galveston, TX) – At approximately 11:42 PM on Saturday the Galveston Police Department received a call in reference to a vehicle striking a bicyclist in the 2900 block of Ave N.  Officers responded and found that the bicyclist had sustained fatal injuries. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Witnesses on scene said that they observed a vehicle, described as a black Mazda SUV or Minivan, strike the individual on the bike. The driver was reported to have exited the vehicle prior to leaving the scene.

The driver is described as a tall, light-complected, black male, with short buzz-cut hair, and a thin beard. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Ave M ½ half.

The Department is asking anyone with information to call Detective Sergeant Pilsner at 409-765-3762. We are requesting the community to assist the Department in solving this crime.
