GALVESTON, Texas – The Galveston Chamber of Commerce and UTMB Health encourage all women to attend The 5th Annual Conference Celebrating Women, Mind Body & Spirit, to be held Thursday, May 17, 2012, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm, at the Moody Gardens Convention Center.
Conference speakers who will inspire, entertain and inform include Leigh Anne Tuohy, Behind the Blind Side, Overcoming Obstacles in the Face of Adversity; Karen McCullough, The Seven Women Project; Louise Parsley, Live, Love, Laugh; Tanji Patton, Red Wine, Red Meat and Chocolate; Dr. Catherine Hansen, Keep the Honeymoon Alive!; and Dr. Robert Hirschfeld, “Call 911, I think I’m having a heart attack” - Living with Panic Disorder.
Keynote speaker Leigh Anne Tuohy, the subject of the award winning film The Blind Side, has been inspiring, motivating and charming audiences nation wide as she continues her mission to inspire hope, ignite generosity, and make it happen for deserving and underserved youth.
Referred to as “A Shot of Energy”, Karen McCullough energizes her audiences to approach their work and their lives with a fresh, new attitude. Her entrepreneurial spirit ignites her audiences as she teaches what it takes to deliver a stellar job performance .
Former First Lady Barbara Bush wrote: “The combination of Louise Parsley’s wit, wisdom and warmth makes me put her up there with the best . . . . Erma Bombeck.” Entertaining readers and audiences for the last decade, Louise reminds her audiences of the importance of knowing when to laugh and when to cry. A native Houstonian, wife, mother, and community volunteer, she has entertained readers with her columns in the Houston area for the last decade.
Tanji Patton has a passion for food and wine. An award winning journalist who has worked as an investigative reporter, news anchor, producer and host, her focus is on world renowned chefs, wine makers and culinary newsmakers. A member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, a Chef Rotisseur and past board member of Culinaria, the San Antonio wine and Food Festival, she co-hosted Live with Regis during the nationwide search for a co-host. Tanji will speak on living life to the fullest – and that includes wine, red meat and chocolate, of course!
“May the honeymoon never end” is the message of Dr. Catherine Hansen, Board Certified OB/GYN physician at UTMB Health. Dr. Hansen was a sole practitioner in a rural community in Canada prior to joining the staff at UTMB in 2010. Taking an active and passionate role in the health of her patients and her community, her goal is to improve the overall quality of life for each patient by promoting quality, up-to-date care, which includes mature sexual health concerns.
Stress plays a large part in our modern day lives, emerging as depression, anxiety and personality disorders that can affect relationships. Dr. Robert Hirschfeld, Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at UTMB, is internationally renowned for his research on the diagnosis and treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders. The symptoms of panic and/or anxiety attacks sometimes fit the description of a heart attack. Dr. Hirschfeld listed among The Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Doctors will speak on identifying and treating panic disorder.
The full day Women’s Conference will include continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, energizing breaks and Women’s Expo featuring unique and wonderful service, products and merchandise for sale.
