Annual Breakfast with the Bishop to Honor Fatherhood

On Father’s Day weekend, the 21st Annual Breakfast with the Bishop sponsored by Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas will pay tribute to the important role fatherhood plays in the life of the family and community.

All fathers in attendance will be honored during the event and the public is invited to enroll fathers, living or deceased, for special remembrance in the printed event program.

“We see this year’s event as a way to honor fathers who have lived up to the demands of their vocation,” said Carol Fernandez, President/CEO of Catholic Charities, “but we also hope our focus on fatherhood encourages the community to spiritually adopt families in need of greater support by financially supporting the mission of Catholic Charities.”

Bishop Curtis Guillory of the Diocese of Beaumont joins Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas in hosting the breakfast, which will be held Saturday, June 16 at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica Parish Center from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

A day of fishing with Bishop Guillory will be among the silent auction items that can be purchased to help generate revenue for the programs of Catholic Charities.

Businesses and individuals are also invited to become financial sponsors of the event or to contribute upon enrollment of a father for recognition in the printed program.

Tickets can be ordered or contributions made by calling (409) 924-4427 or by visiting the Catholic Charities website at www.catholiccharitiesbmt.org. The cost of tickets is $20 for teens and adults and $10 for children 12 years old or younger.

The service programs of Catholic Charities supported by the event include a daily meal for the poor, emergency and disaster recovery assistance, financial education and case management, community advocacy, children’s grief support, immigration legal services and counseling. The services of Catholic Charities are available to all members of the community.
