About Constellation Field:
Baseball fever has taken over Sugar Land. The buzz on the street is all about the Skeeters and Sugar Land’s first-class stadium. Words can’t do justice to the pageantry and excitement during the recent opening day ceremonies. The best analogy is that fans showed up for a baseball game, and a party broke out. The enthusiasm continued through the weekend as people packed the stands, and Sugar Land set an Atlantic League attendance record.
The idea of expanding the City’s entertainment options was identified years ago -- destination venues are excellent ways to support existing businesses (such as retailers and restaurants) and attract new employers.
Constellation Field is funded with a portion of sales tax revenues that may only be used for economic development purposes. The stadium is a year-round community amenity that will provide an annual benefit of $7.7 million or a return of $169 million to our economy over 30 years.
Constellation Field is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors annually, benefitting hotels, restaurants and other retail establishments.
